Welcome to Libraries For Democracy! We are dedicated to providing you, the citizens of America, with factual, useful, non-partisan information on politics and the important social issues of the day.
Our purpose is to help all Americans become better informed, more effective citizens. Without your informed participation, America could easily cease to be a democracy. LFD will try to make it interesting, worthwhile, and even fun to be well-informed about politics and social issues.
We urge you, then, to use this website’s resources to help you strengthen America’s freedom, democracy, equality of opportunity, and general economic prosperity. We are called Libraries For Democracy because we are librarians and we believe libraries are bulwarks of American democracy. We partner with your local library and with librarians all over America to develop reliable, non-partisan information to help all of us make good decisions for America. Ask your local library if it is an LFD Certified Democracy Center and participate in the democracy-related programs it provides. American democracy depends on you!
